PIP Appointments

We ONLY book first party PIP for motor vehicle accidents. This means the client MUST use the PIP coverage on their own auto insurance policy, not the other party involved in the accident regardless of who is at fault. NO THIRD PARTY INSURANCE! When booking a new client as a PIP insurance appointment, you will need to first have a referral from their doctor, naturopath or chiropractor and their auto insurance name, claim#, date of injury, name of their claims adjuster and the adjusters phone number. Save the digital or paper referral in the Scanned Documents as Last, First Name, Date of Referral. (example: Smith, Joe 01.01.21 Ref) Attach the referral to the client files. Notes will be similar to health insurance. Please be sure to include the name of the insurance company.

Example: Allstate PIP Claim# 123456789-0012 DOI: 12/22/24 Adjuster: Steven Burns 123-456-7890 Fx: 123-456-7891 Rx: 01/07/25 Dr. John Doe, DC NPI# 123456789 Dx: S13.4XXA (sprain of ligaments of cervical spine) 12 visits

BEFORE booking with the client, call the adjuster and verify that the PIP claim is open and funds are available for billing. If yes, make a new general note that says, "PIP funds available for billing." If you were sent to voicemail, make a general note that says, "LM for adjuster: PIP funds available for billing?" If they call back, proceed with confirmation and notes. Once the PIP funds have been verified you can then book the appointments. DO NOT BOOK BEFORE VERIFING!

On Fridays, look at the upcoming week PIP appointments and if it has been more than two week, call the adjuster to verify PIP funds are still available. Our goal is to not overbill the benefit and avoid declined bills.
